Undefeated Pirates reach quarterfinals – Class Challenge tops $70,000

Phase 1 was paid for and completed last summer. Phase 2 is the Raising or the Roof next summer.

Another weekend of doubly good news for the Pirates.

First – our Pirates defeated Estacada 58-14 in the first round of the state playoffs.  Next up is La Grande at Susick Stadium in a quarterfinal matchup.  La Grande’s quarterback has already signed with Utah State, so expect a tough game.  The World article link.

Secondly – our class challenge for Pete’s classes has passed $70,000!  Unlike other weeks when individual donations of $1,000 to $5,00o accounted for the majority of our increase, the jump to $70,000 in the last week was made up mostly of donations of around $500 or less.  The largest was a contribution of $561 on behalf of the class of 1952 from the class of 1956.

The thoughtfulness by the class of 1956 gave the class of ’52 its’ first donation.  So, we now have had 29 of Pete’s 34 classes make contributions.  If you know of people from the following classes who you think would donate , please contact them and ask them to help continue our Pirate legacy:  47, 48, 49, 79, 80.  Get on the scoreboard, even if it is just $25!

We’d like to remind potential donors of the recognition plaques that will be placed on the Quarterdeck Wall.  For example,  Rick and Debbie Johns $1,000 contribution earns recognition on a 6″ x 6″ plaque on the ‘Gold’ wall.  Bill and Gail Whiteman, class of ’56, have been increasing their donation in $100 increments and are now at the $500 level – good for a 3″ by 6″ plaque on the ‘Gray’ recognition board.  The various levels of recognition can be found here.

Class Challenge Notes:

  • The top 10 stayed the same over the past week.
  • Two classes are very close to moving up to the $5,000 ‘Gold’ recognition level.  1967 needs $250.  1964 needs $900.
  • The class of 1966 needs $76 to get to the ‘Purple’ level.  The class of 1953 needs $300 to go ‘Purple’.
  • List of Pete’s years donors listed by class.  It is fair game to donate $1 more than your classmate.
