Boys & Girls Pirates win league basketball titles, Class Challenge & Project Update

It’s been a great season at Pirate Palace as both the boys and girls basketball teams completed perfect records in league (10-0) and advanced to the state playoffs.

The girls are 22-2 on the season and ranked number one in state.  The girls host number sixteen Yamhill-Carlton Friday, March 2nd.    The boys are 18-6 on the season and ranked number three.  They will host number fourteen Baker on Saturday March 3.  Winners advance to the Elite Eight in Forest Grove.  Go Pirates!!

Marshfield continued it’s strong wrestling tradition with a district championship and a runner’s up trophy at state.  Five Pirates were state champs, including Travis “Junior” Wittlake, who won his fourth state title!

With March Madness soon to be complete and spring sports about to start, your mind might not be thinking football thoughts.  But the Raise the Roof Committee has been hard at work.

You may recall that phase 1 was completed last summer – on time and on budget.  Phase 2, the actual installation of the roof, is scheduled for this summer.

The Advertisement for Bids has been issued and sealed bids are due at 2 PM this Thursday, March 1st.  At that time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud.  Once we know the bid, we will either need to complete fundraising for Phase 2 or start the campaign for Phase 3.

Class Challenge Update

With our fundraising campaign waiting for bids to arrive, it’s time to bring everyone up to date on the Class Challenge for Pete’s years:

  • The Class Challenge chart now includes money raised for items donated at last years successful Raise the Roof auction.
  • The Class of ’54 joined the ‘Purple’ recognition group (more than $2,500 as a class).
  • That makes 7 of Pete’s classes that have surpassed $2,500
  • The Class of 1966 needs just a little bump of $76 to earn the class the ‘Purple’ recognition on the Quarterdeck Wall.  Hit that yellow ‘Donate’ button at the top of the right hand column and get your class into the ‘Purple’ club.
  • We are down to just five of Pete’s classes who have not donated to the Raise the Roof campaign.  1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1979.  Make the first donation for these classes – even if it is just $25.  Get them on the scoreboard.
