Pirates head to State Semis & Roof Project Gets Much Lower Bid

Pirates return to semifinals this week.

If you are near Cottage Grove this Saturday, November 17th, drop by Cottage Grove High School and watch our #4 ranked Pirates take on #1 Banks.  Game time is 5:30.  Cottage Gove built a new high school a few years ago and the football facility is a wonderful venue.  Marshfield dispatched #13 North Marion 49-16 in the first round of the state playoffs two weeks ago.  Last weekend, the Pirates beat #5 Mazama 28-23.  The Pirates hope to pull off the upset to return to the state championship game the following week.

Good news for Phase 2 of the Raise the Roof project – Raising the roof.

We apologize for the lack of updates to our fund raising campaign.  But as you are probably aware, tariff wars have impacted a lot of prices, especially steel.  We originally thought the roof bids would come in around $200,000.  However, when we went out for bids in 2017, the bids were in the mid to high $300,000 range.  This fall we once again went out for bids and approached more vendors.  Overall, the bids were much lower this year.  A Roseburg company came in with the low bid.  The estimated total which includes setup work including concrete is $235,000.  We feel this is a very workable number and should be able to have a go / no-go decision in December.

Thanks for all of your support.

Phase 3 – ADA access

We are still taking donations for Phase 2 (Raising the Roof) and now, Phase 3. We have already designed the plans for ADA access to the south stands.  Let’s make sure those with disabilities can easily get to the covered seats. Here’s an overhead view of what the stadium would look like with the roof and ADA access.

Class Challenge Update

The teams from Pete Susick’s years have been competing to see who is the best fundraiser.  A recent donation via PayPal from Robert Bestor of $250 moved the class of 1956 up to the #14 spot.

There are several ways to donate – via check, PayPal or credit card.  Go to our Donate Page to learn more.

If you want more information regarding the class challenge, visit our challenge page.

We also have nice Donor Packets that you may be interested in receiving.  Click here to request a donor packet.

Once again, we want to thank all Pirate supporters for your generous contributions!
